The CBSE launched the Structured Assessment for Analyzing Learning (SAFAL) in July 2021, as recommended in NEP 2020 (para 4.40), to promote competency-focused learning. The SAFAL Key Stage Assessment (KSA) 2025-26 will be conducted in digital mode during November–December 2025 for registered students of Grades 6 and 9 in CBSE-affiliated schools.
Key Highlights of SAFAL KSA 2025-26
- SAFAL KSA assesses learners’ competency achievement — not a competition, qualification, or certification exam.
- It identifies areas needing improvement in teaching-learning quality.
- No extra classes are required; regular competency-based classroom teaching is sufficient.
- Only school-level competency reports will be shared; schools can view only their own reports.
- Reports will remain confidential and not be shared publicly or with other schools.
- SAFAL serves as a tool to evaluate and enhance school teaching-learning practices.
- Schools must conduct the assessment sincerely, following SOPs under school supervision.
- Technical records will be maintained, and data scrutiny will be done during assessment.
