NCERT has officially released the new Grade 9 Social Science textbook for the academic session 2025–26. The updated textbook is designed according to the latest educational guidelines and focuses on making learning more engaging, practical, and student-friendly.
The new Grade 9 Social Science book follows the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023. It aims to develop critical thinking, creativity, inquiry-based learning, and a better understanding of society and the world around students.
Subjects Covered in Grade 9 Social Science
The Grade 9 Social Science textbook covers four major areas:
📘 History – India and the Contemporary World – I
Students explore important historical events, civilizations, and developments.
🌍 Geography – Contemporary India – I
This section focuses on India's physical features, climate, resources, and environment.
🏛️ Civics – Democratic Politics – I
Students learn about democracy, government systems, rights, and responsibilities.
💰 Economics – Understanding Economic Development – I
This introduces students to economic concepts and development.
